This weeks assignment from the League of Extraordinary Bloggers: MIXTAPE MADNESS!!

This weeks assignment for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers:

What songs were forever being looped on your car’s stereo back in high school. A cassette could only hold a dozen or so songs, so that’s the magic number of songs to list. If your car didn’t have a cassette deck in high school, go ahead and pretend it did, you punk.

My wife (girlfriend back then) and I had about a gajillion mix tapes all over the place, we drove all over i my '82 Monte Carlo cause at the time gas was like a buck a gallon, maybe 50 to 60 cents on the reservation, smokes were 2 bucks a pack, and we had decent jobs!! So we ditched the 8-track players, got Cassette players and cranked the tunes!!

What was on the tape deck?

1. RUSH - Circumstances
2. Black Sabbath - A National Acrobat
3. Alice in Chains - Would?
These are the first three songs I learned to play on my bass and listened to em incessantly!
4. Ace Frehley - Whats on your Mind
5. Boston - More than a Feelin
6. Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Lights
Good cruisin music!!
7. Anne Murray - Daydream Believer
8. Kenny Loggins - Danny's song
Hey! I got a soft side ya know!!
9. Manowar - Pleasure Slave
10. SLAYER, METALLICA, PRIMUS.....TAKE YOUR PICK!!!!

Special mention to GWAR !! Scumdogs of the universe!! We played that whole tape constantly...it was the concert we went to on our first date :) Google it and see how romantic it is....

  1. I love Gwar! I have seen them more times in concert than I can remember,They are very crazy and Messy shows. Alice in Chains has been a favorite for a long time as well. Seems like you list should have Journey on it.

  6. You had me at Ace Frehley - Whats on your Mind. I absolutely love that song! If there's a better reason for wanting to learn to play guitar than listening to Ace Frehley then I haven't discovered it yet.

    1. Ace is a master!! That whole album rocks!! Any guitarist must study Ace's work, his solos are a work of art!!

    2. And yet so minimalist and simple. I've never heard a guitarist be able to do so much with so little. Possibly a controversial view here but I reckon Ace Frehley's Kiss solo album was my favourite of the 4. I believe popular opinion is that the Paul Stanley one was the best. I thought Ace Frehley's was way better. In fact I thought the Gene Simmons one was better too. What can I tell you? Each to his own I suppose.

    3. I go back and forth with Paul's and Ace's, they both have alot to offer and are quite different. The only thing off Gene's worth anything is Radioactive, and only in the live performances I have seen. Peter's is awful! But those are just my opinions, I'm one of the only people who like Music from the Elder :)
