Vintage Burger King Star Wars Premium Glasses

Back in the day, if you went to Burger King when one of the Original Star Wars movies were premiering, you could snag one of the many collectible glasses that were offered at the time.

My family had a pile of these but, as what usually happens, many of them broke over the course of  years of kids knocking them over, washing them and treating them like they are just glasses instead of pieces of art!

I only have these two left but they are fine examples of the kind of premium you could get back then.

Funny Pictures and AWESOME stuff!! and maybe a few new purchases....

He are some cool pictures I took off Pinterest that I just had to share:

Gotta get my wife to make these :)

These might become my new work lunchboxes......the Oscar Goldman briefcase is sooooooo cool and brings back memories of the 12" figure's case that exploded!
I have been getting into DR WHO hardcore lately and this TARDIS lunchbox may have to become mine soon! The lunchboxes don't come with a thermos anymore though....

Strongheart the Paladin, Dungeons and Dragons Original Good Guy

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, the LJN Advanced Dungeons and Dragons line from the early 1980's is one of the best toy lines ever produced!! I've written about Warduke enough:

Now we have his nemesis: Strongheart the Good Paladin!!! I love how they qualify the Paladin as "Good".....isn't being Lawful Good an automatic qualification?!?! well maybe not in the 4th edition.

Anyway here he is:

This is the non Battle-Matic version that came out in the first series (a switch on his back would move his arm up and down in the second series) and the cape he originally came with is long gone but......this is one heck of a great figure! The detail on him is wonderful, as it is with the entire line! I have to say I always thought he should have came with a shield but that doesn't detract from the figure at all.

I would have had a picture of Strongheart fighting Warduke but in my previous posts (in the link above) The Dragonriders of the Styx Black Knight keeps Warduke pretty busy.......

The James Bond Dr. No from Sideshow comes with Vodka, nuff said!

The Sideshow James Bond, OO7 figure from Dr. No. I'm not a big 12" figure fan but I'm a big Bond fan so lets check em out!

The box art is derived from the Cinema poster.

The figure displays nicely .

Alot of detail in the figure itself and the Tux is made very well.

He even comes with a bunch of accessories!

A shoulder holster, a Walther PPK, his beloved Beretta, 2 silencers and a stand come standard!

Oh yeah, he comes with a bottle of Vodka, a tumbler and a shaker! Talk about ready for action !

One complaint i have is that OO7's likeness comes off as a bit corpse like....

To me, the way they highlighted his face makes em look like he's in a coffin....

Overall its a nice figure. I got em cheap as chips so I'm not complaining but I wish the face was colored better. I cant bring myself to take him out of the box but when I finally do I'm sure I'll change my mind. I sure dig the pistols with silencers and the Vodka bottle takes the cake :)

Its my Birthday and I'll cry if I want to!!!

Not really!!

I'm 39 today and I still have a year before the BIG 4-0 !

My misery with my birthday ended when I graduated from School (click this link to feel my pain) , but now I have my little guy starting his first day of school this week, a big PILE of Ebay loot coming in and more adventures in the making!!

My wife is making me French Onion soup, Roast Beef with Baked potatoes and Yellow cake with chocolate frosting for dessert, sprinkles and sugary letters too of course!!

To quote Jon Bon Jovi:

" Like a favorite pair of torn blue jeans
This skin I'm in it's alright with me
It's not old - just older"

I still have ALOT of toys to buy !!!!!

This weeks League of Extraordinary Bloggers assignment is one that tears me up every year!!

This is this weeks assignment from The League of Extraordinary Bloggers:

"Summer’s over, it’s time to go back to school! (Interpret it as you will.)"

My birthday is September 4th.

Half of my Birthdays were the first day of school.

I hated school.

I hated that I never got a "Birthday Party" in school like all the kids who had Bdays during the year.

I didn't qualify for a Summer Vacation Bday cause technically I was in the school year.

I was a misfit enough as a kid and this didn't help.

My Family parties were on Labor day.

I got school stuff and clothes.

....on the bright side my Mom did make me special cake and stuff for when I got home and I did get alot of toys too.............but.....................

My birthday was the first day or the day before of school most of the time.

It sucked.

At least I'm not 40 yet!! :)

that'll be next years post............... :(

Check Out if these guys are as F'd up as me :

TBD..........

Sgt Rock Gunner MOC from Remco

I have a soft spot for these figures. Remco's Sgt. Rock line is a "Knock Off" of GI Joe, but they are really nice figures in their own right. I had alot of the figures. The articulation is limited at the knees and arms but they have enough detail to put them to good use. I used them mostly as front line soldiers for the Joes, or fill in bad guys that weren't Cobra but maybe soldiers from foreign lands and such.

Here we have Gunner:

Got this guy MOC for a sweet price:)
Had to get him just for the patch I mentioned in my post about the "Bad Guys":
I'm really liking getting figures MOC. The card art itself brings back memories of seeing them hanging on the pegs!

For a Gunner he only comes with a M-16 and a machete.....
Usually Sgt Rock figures came with a nice hoard of accessories and I incorporated them into the GI Joe weapon stockpile.
The Machete and walkie talkie have hooks on them that make it easier for the figure to hold them but can be hooked onto the figure's belt too.
The shovel can be put in a hole in the figure's belt to store it there as well.
In my world that sort of stuff went a long way and I still dig when a figure has a holster or can carry all his equipment.

Here's the back of the card showing off some of the vehicles. I never got any Sgt. Rock vehicles, opting for GI Joe ones, but I did get the machine gun nest with the mounted 50 cal, sandbags and barbed wire......I put that to alot of use!!

GI Joe was and is a great toy that defined war play for kids of my generation, but knock offs like Remco's Sgt Rock added alot of flavor to allow for a bit more creativity with play. They were usually a bit cheaper so you could get a bunch of em. My parents didn't encourage "Army Building" cause in their eyes they didn't want to buy multiples of the same figure. Lines like this one made it possible to bolster the ranks.......HEY someone had to get shot up!! Snake Eyes could only shoot the Cobra and Cobra Officer so many times!!
