Here's a blast from summers past ..... Lawn Jarts !! While these puppies are banned from sale in the U.S. you can still enjoy a rousing game of Lawn Jarts in your back yard on a hot summer afternoon if you happen to still own a set......
So long as your classification is "Adult"
A beautiful set from my childhood. All four are intact with the original rings to toss em in !
Still some grass and mud clumped on the tips from the impaling of Mother Earth !!
Now I understand these can be dangerous if mishandled. As a responsible adult, they are kept safely out of the reach of irresponsible users. But like anything that can be potentially dangerous, butter knives for example, they came under the scrutiny of the government watchdog and are now banned from sale in this country. It is unfortunate that some have been injured or killed by the misuse of this "toy" but it doesn't diminish the memories of playing this game with my cousins in my Grandmother's backyard.
If only there was a ban on butter knives ...... how many innocent Butter Lambs have suffered .......
That is ridiculous that they are banned....
ReplyDeleteAgreed. A very small minority of users were inflicted by loss but it still got big brother to shut it down.
DeleteWe used to have a couple of sets of these as a kid and no one never was hurt playing with them.
ReplyDeleteThose are the ones I played with and there are no blood stains. I don't want to downplay some kids getting killed or injured by these but I wonder about the statistics of footballs or baseballs. I got hurt a lot more playing football and probably would have gotten run over more than a few times playing in the street....
