Iron Man, Iron Man, friendly neighborhood Iron Man !!
Iron Man from the Marvel Secret Wars line circa 1984. I remember wanting one of these quite a bit but never getting it til a few years ago.
By far my favorite Iron Man figure.
I was a huge fan of the Iron Man comic pre #200 and this figure is a great representation of the red and gold version armor.
That's the face of a hero!
This figure is perfect.....
This figure is perfect.....
Just don't get out of line!!!
Iron Man: "Originally I came with a gun....but threw it away cause I don't need it."
Punisher: "I got a gun right here.."
Iron Man: "I got a boot right here."
Iron Man: "Got myself a new utility belt!"
Originally Iron Man came with a shield and a gun.....I guess Mattel figured that Iron Man needed some accessories but for me I don't need em. I snagged this guy sans accessories and display him like Stan Lee intended. Gold,Bold and Invincible.

Golobulus vs. Discobolus UFC 151 Cancelled but this fight will rage ON!!
UFC 151 was scheduled for September 1st, it was cancelled, but I will bring you a match to span CENTURIES!!!! These two figures of art have been itchin to get it on for some time now. Which is the REAL piece of ART!?!?! Lets find out.....
Here we have Golobulus:
Ruler of Cobra-La.
Mostly made of Bio-Technological replacement pats.
His original Brain and Central Nervous system is all that remains of him.
He leaves no Carbon Footprint.
This is Discobolus.
He is made of Marble, but originally was Bronze.
Created by Grecian sculptor Myron.
He was once owned by Adolf Hitler.
Golobulus has a tail.
Discobolus has no tail.
Golobulus has a torso covered with a hard, chitinous armor, similar to that of crustaceans.
Discobolus has softer features.
Golobulus has a face that only Burgess Meredith could voice.
Discobolus speaks to your soul.
This is truly a tough one. One is a plastic representation of a character reviled by most fans of GI Joe and whom Larry Hama refused to write into the RAH continuity. The other is a priceless work of art from the Severe period of Greek sculpture, a copy of which resides in Jim's fish tank. Which one is the true piece of art? Which one is just a piece of ?!$%?
I've made my conclusion.
What is yours?

Finding a Time Capsule while playing C64 Test Drive
As I posted before in my post about my commodore 64 experience - Reliving the C64 Experience ; I wrote that one of the first games my cousin and I played was Test Drive. Like most C64 games it starts with a memorable tune that drops you back in time. (I'm gonna make a playlist and post em later after I figure out how to use my new device that can record anything to my laptop)
Pick a fast ride!!
Decent graphics and good play...even a Rearview MIRROR!!
Pass those cars at HIGH Speed!!
BOOM! Rear end collision!! Gonna have to call the collision shop!
NUTS! Pedal to the metal!! Its the FUZZ!!!
Ahhhh...the surprise.
It didn't even occur to me that 20 something year old high scores would be preserved in the Floppy's data. Of course none of em are mine, they are of my cousin and his friend (I wasn't that good at the game) but the fact that we not only relived a game that we played as pre teenagers, we realized the fact that all the high scores, start up screens and cracked by graphics we made are all there, preserved for us to see once again. I have kept these games and cared for em for almost 25 years and the payoff of all these memories are absolutely priceless.
But I'll copy all the memories for a million bux!! ;)

Reliving the Commodore 64 Experience
Most of my time in my early youth was spent on my Commodore 64. It was a big step up from Atari and Nintendo wasn't out yet. This was the system of choice. Of course, it was meant to be an actual computer, but it is very limited. It runs on 64 kB of RAM. Thats kilobyte. 64. To put that in perspective my meager laptop runs on 4GB RAM.
1 kB = 1000 bytes
1GB = 1,000,000 bytes
The C64 has 20 kB of ROM, made up of the BASIC interpreter, the kernel, and the character ROM. As the processor could only address 64 kB at a time, the ROM was mapped into memory and only 38. 911 bytes of RAM were available at start up. (thanks wikipedia )
That's a ridiculous difference in processing considering that the C64 come out in 1982, only roughly 30 years ago.
Anyway, I pretty much used it as a gaming system cause despite the limited capability of the unit, there were some 10,000 titles available for the unit!! The games were incredible: Forbidden Forest, M.U.L.E., Raid Over Moscow, Pitstop, Winter Games, Spy Hunter.....I had hundreds!! The graphics were pretty good for the time, close enough to the arcade that you wouldn't bitch but a little off. one of the biggest memories for me is the music. Some of the soundtracks of these games are frikin epic!! I played Forbidden Forest and it was like a flood of memory through audio. You just cant buy this sort of memory!! Well....38.911 bytes of it!
Here's my C64:
Look at that power supply! I actually had one burn up on me. Melted a hole straight through it. Stunk like hell. I was glad my Dad could get another cause at the time I was pretty worried!
Had a paper route at the time and I spent big bucks on games. Those big ass floppys cost some dough.
Always happy to see that start up screen.....
For what I couldn't buy, there were multitudes of copiers and blank floppys.
Anybody want a game copied?? :)
I'll be posting the games as I play em with screenshots. The next C64 post will be about playing Test Drive with my cousin for the first time in 20 years and how we were blown away by discovering a part of our history stored away until then!!
