Dynamite Comics Bionic Man by Kevin Smith PICK THIS UP!!!

When I heard about Dynamite comics Bionic Man I was intrigued. When I heard its based off Kevin Smith's unreleased 6 Million Dollar Man screenplay I was interested. After reading the first 9 comics....I'M HOOKED!!

Kevin Smith's reboot of the 6 Million Dollar Man is well worth it. I don't want  to spoil the story but it is well written, has wonderful art and engaging character development. The dialogue is sharp and the pacing is quick !!

Steve Austin is written as a man created as a cyborg against his will and the story explores his spite against it! He has a really interesting villain and the pieces of the story fit together well!

If you are interested in a good new comic and want to read a  6 Million Dollar Man story the way it should have been written then pick this up it wont disappoint !!

TSR Dungeons and Dragons Red Box Basic rules set....where it all began !!

The Dungeons and Dragons Basic Rules Set !! When my friends introduced D&D to me this was, of course, the first set I got. A trek to the Como Mall Waldenbooks (after I collected from my paper route to get some cash :) and I brought this home for study.

Books, dice...all in a box!

I remember staring at these guys trying to decide which character to create first!

I LOVE THAT DRAWING !!!

Maps and graph paper.....working in Engineering has me around alot of graph paper and because of this I have to control an urge to map out a quick dungeon on a stray piece !!!

I remember making my Dad take the character sheet to work and photocopy about a thousand of em !!

The power that only a DM can have !!!!!
I don't get to play much anymore but all this reminiscing is making me want to find out some players and get back in the saddle :)  I must enter that dungeon again !!!!

New James Bond News, a nod to history, Watch the Skyfall trailer !!

The movie news keeps a rollin this week, The new James Bond movie "SkyFall" is givin a nod to the franchise's history and will have a exact replica of Sean Connery's  Aston Martin DB5 !! It even has the same licence plate !! Head over to movies.yahoo.com (follow the link) for the whole story !!

I really love this franchise and Daniel Craig is the best Bond of em all. Little things like this go along way to reinforce the fact that they are doing an outstanding job of creating a persona for Bond that isn't the one dimensional characters from before. Connery's Bond was great but limited cause of the time it was made. All the rest sucked. Now, Craig has transcended the role. He is perfect or it!

A.I.M. reported to be in Iron Man 3.....M.O.D.O.K. ? Let the speculation begin !!

Saw this article over at nbc17.com (click the link to head over there). A.I.M.. -  Advanced Idea Mechanics - looks to be part of the Iron Man 3 set:

Could this be where the Iron Patriot armor comes from?
Could this also be where M.O.D.O.K. will first appear before showing up in the next Captain America movie?

This movie seems to be ready to pack a punch, lets hope that they don't over do it!!

10. LONE WOLF MCQUADE

Its Chuck Norris and I'll be careful what I write cause the his name might jump off my screen and BAM !! out like a light..... anyhow....as a kid I loved this movie, violence, cool Texas Ranger and more violence!!

Now....what can I say ....ITS STILL ROCKS!! Not perfect... but I've learned to let go of some reality with this movie and just enjoy Chuck Norris kickin ass!!

9. THE LORDS OF FLATBUSH

This movie is the reason I wore my collar up on my leather jacket as a young punk!!
Now....I still love this movie. Great actors, great story.....even with a lot of flaws. For me its still a very enjoyable cult classic !!

8. NIGHTHAWKS

Rutger Hauer's Wolfgar inspired my Cobra Commanders world domination plans!!
Now..... OMG THIS MOVIE RULES !! STALLONE, RUTGER HAUER, BILLY DEE WILLIAMS!!!! CMON !!!!!

7. UNCOMMON VALOR

Inspired many of my GIJOE's personalities.....
Now......not so good. Comes off as corny and very unrealistic. Time has passed this movie by for me.

6. THE TOY

Yes I know what you are thinking but we had HBO very early and I learned quick how to run cable to my room!!
Now......A CLASSIC!! SO many one liners !!

5. SPACEBALLS

Once again.....HBO!!!
SOOOOO FUNNY!! STILL QUOTE THIS MOVIE !!!

4. THE HOBBIT

Honestly as a kid....seen it but wasn't a big fan. Too slow, not as violent as I wanted.
Now.......I have really grown to appreciate this movie. Over 30 years I have read this book countless times and I have grown to love this animated movie. Needless to say I cannot WAIT for THE HOBBIT to come out!!

3. STAR TREK II THE WRATH OF KHAN

Watched it as a kid liked it...... but Trek was a bit slow and not exciting.
Now....its like wine that has aged and now the nectar of the Gods for me to drink!! All I have to say is "He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds."

2. A CHRISTMAS STORY

Liked it as a kid but......
Now.......its EVEN FUNNIER !! Whats not to like ! Christmas in my home wouldn't be the same without this movie !!

Jesse James in Plastic Empire toys Legends of the West !!!!

Jesse James!!  Empire Toys !! LEGENDS OF THE WEST!!!

Empire Toys produced the Legends of the West line of figures in the late 70's. The 3 3/4 line was compatible with Legends of the Lone Ranger and the other Western toys out at the time. I know Empire toys made these figures and a good line of accessories, but Excel and Imperial also had produced them as well. Anyone who had these knows that this line of figures and accessories are AWESOME!! I had a ton of them and loved every minute of playtime I can remember with em. I lost all these figures to time and when I finally tracked down the info on this line, I couldn't search Ebay quick enough! This is the first one I got and wont be the last as I track down the rest of this line !!

Jesse James was my favorite and the main nemesis for The Lone Ranger - click here for story - dressed in black and ready for action.



The figure has great detail and was fairly robust. The Paint apps leave a bit to be desired but overall great figure ! The Black hat and pistol accessory were perfect and it has a HOLSTER FOR THE PISTOL!! I cant express enough how holsters for action figures are awesome ! Why couldn't all toy makers think of it !?!

I remember that mine as a kid wore Deadwood Dick's black vest adding to the coolness of the figure !! I'll be tracking that down soon to complete this figure :)

Beast King GOLION !! Original VOLTRON !!!!

Tonight my wife (who is a big Voltron fan) and I are watching Beast King GOLION !! In all its glory !! This is the Lion Voltron....except the Original Japanese  version subtitled.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! The story is roughly the same as the American version but with all of its original content in it makes a great deal more sense. Not to mention the violence, swearing and gore !!

I'll start with the cons: Different theme song but its still pretty good!

Pros: EVERYTHING!! If you watched this as a kid and thought you were only being told half the story you will love this !!

Seriously, if you are a fan of Voltron pick these up and watch, the difference is amazing. Alot of the story makes more sense and there is a great deal more content that is missed in the American Version. You can really tell the dumbed it down for the American children to watch but this original version is definitely more adult content and certainly a better story!
